The person with the most responsibility for your development is you yourself – not anyone else. And the first priority for your own development is to strive for excellence. Excellent workmanship is what makes such a difference in any person doing a job. Expect your job to provide stimulus only if you create the excitement, the challenge, the transformation that makes an old job enriching over and over again. Hold yourself accountable: everything flows from that. The important thing is not that you have rank, but that you have responsibility. By focusing on accountability, you will be able to take a bigger view of yourself.
